Jon Acosta wins Rhode Island Senate Primary
It all begins with an idea.
We made history
Friends and family, The people of Central Falls and Pawtucket have spoken. They voted for a living wage, equitable school funding, affordable housing, raising taxes on the wealthy, expanding access to drivers licenses, implementing a Green New Deal, and legalizing recreational marijuana. We will do everything in our power to honor their vote. With less than half an hour left on election day, two young men of color—one with his son—walked into a polling place holding our literature in hand with plans to cast their vote for us. It was at that moment we really knew that we were watching history in the making. I'm eternally grateful for the canvassers that worked on our campaign, the volunteers that made calls and knocked doors, and the people who donated the funds that powered this campaign. This would not have been possible without Lesdin, Andrializ, Yedmy, Samantha, Jide, and Jonathan. My colleagues on the CF City Council, Jessica, Maria, Franklin, and Hugo were a great source of inspiration and support. Thank you for believing in me and for helping us make history in our district.

La gente de Central Falls y Pawtucket declaró su preferencia. Votaron para un salario mínimo justo, financiación equitativa para la educación, viviendas asequibles, impuestos más altos para la gente más rica, aumentar el acceso a licencias de conducir, un Nuevo Trato Verde, y marijuana recreativa legal. Vamos a honrar su voto con todo en nuestro poder.
Con menos de media hora para votar, dos jóvenes de color—uno con su hijo—entraron en un lugar de votación con nuestra literatura en la mano con planes de votar por nosotros. Fue en ese momento que realmente supimos que estábamos viendo la historia en vivo.
